A team of students from Linneuniversitet collaborated with Kalmar Municipality to create a central dashboard for Kalmar Öland Airport, utilizing the power of Frends. Anton Fridlund, responsible for the integration of Frends within the project, shares the positive experience and valuable lessons learned along the way.
A group of five students from Linneuniversitet recently finished a project with Kalmar Municipality to create a central dashboard for Kalmar Öland Airport. The dashboard's purpose was to display data from various sources, helping to understand the airport's impact on the environment and meet environmental regulations. Anton Fridlund, responsible for the Frends integration within the project, explains:
“It was Kalmar Municipality who recommended Frends iPaaS to us; they had already used it in their past projects and were happy with it. And since we hadn't come across Frends before, we were curious to give it a try. It was a nice change to explore and get familiar with a new tool, especially since we often stick to the same set of tools in our university coursework.”
With the platform's user-friendly interface, Anton could easily present his work and communicate the progress effectively, both to the client and within the team.
“I'm really happy with our experience using Frends. One of the best things about it was how easy it was to learn. On top of that, Frends gave us so many options and the flexibility we needed. We could even import custom tasks to meet our specific needs, which was a big help in solving any challenges that came our way.”
Exceeding Expectations
When discussing the importance of specific features or tasks, Anton pointed out how easy it was to troubleshoot in Frends. The platform gave a clear view of API calls, making it simple to identify and fix any issues, unlike code-based solutions which can be more challenging in this aspect.
But the best part, according to Anton, was that they didn't have to spend a lot of time on Frends, allowing them to focus on other important aspects of the project.
“Frends offered us a range of advantages for our project. The biggest benefit, in my opinion, was the time saved. We didn't have to dedicate excessive time to Frends, allowing us to focus more on other project aspects. Moreover, the platform's visual presentations of the API were invaluable. They made it easier for us to showcase our progress and keep the client well-informed throughout the project.”
The Growing Popularity of Frends
The successful implementation of Frends helped the team deliver the project on time. Kalmar Municipality was very pleased with the results, and by using Frends, the team not only met but also exceeded the client's expectations.
When it comes to future integrations, Anton believes that tools like Frends are becoming more popular, particularly among companies. The low learning curve enables new employees to quickly become skilled, which greatly benefits businesses.
“Frends is a powerful and versatile tool that is essential for platforms like this one. While developers may prefer code-based solutions for their flexibility, Frends finds a good balance between features and ease of use. Personally, I was impressed by the wide range of possibilities that Frends offers, and I found it to be a valuable and efficient tool.”
With the successful completion of the project, Anton and his team have now graduated, ready to move on to new challenges, equipped with the experience they gained while working with Frends.
