Business Goals
Höglandets IT is supporting the municipalities; Aneby, Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö and Vetlanda – with IT services in a very complex and challenging IT environment. They’re responsible for delivering a modern infrastructure where stability, accessibility, and business understanding are cornerstones. They work with integrations on a daily basis, and the goal was to put less time into development and reuse integrations. But also to have full control over the process, and not be dependent on expensive programming from an external consultant.
Höglandets IT wanted to improve and use internal resources in a more efficient way. It was important that specialists were able to work in a similar way and collaborate together in more streamlined processes. Höglandets IT has 40-50 processes up and running, and quite advanced synchronization scripts.
We needed an API layer for our digitalization needs and at the same time, we wanted to take control of integration development and create order and structure.

Integration Challenges
Höglandets IT saw the paradigm shift in the market, where you either have integrations in the existing system with file transfers, or in a modern system where you can reuse integrations. They started to look for a SaaS solution that could help them with the transition to a modern system to customize and grow into.
Höglandets IT discovered Frends since several municipalities had already implemented Frends’ solutions. Frends community serves municipalities with set components, so municipalities can share and reuse components in the community, making it easier for everyone to reuse solutions that work. Even Höglandets IT is using the community to find the best suitable solution for their integrations. Höglandets IT also saw great possibilities to build their own APIs and give more users the chance to easily work with integrations.

Results
Höglandets IT is still in the process of building their ground platform for all their integrations. But they can already see results in terms of decreasing their development time significantly. That means more time for implementation and less development time. Higher speed, better precision, joint resources, happy developers, and a system that just works. Höglandets IT has solved all their previous problems thanks to Frends solution.
Future plans Höglandets IT is in the process of integrating their financial system with Frends. From June to Christmas, there are approximately 500 integrations that need to be reviewed and created. So far, around 100 integrations have been set up since Höglandets IT made the transition to Frends’ solution.
