The Story

Seven friends working for oil companies in Finland saw the need for automation with the introduction of unmanned gas stations, leading to the creation of Frends. They built an integration platform that automated tasks such as fuel level monitoring and cash collection, using dial-up modems to gather and process data. It's fair to say that this solution was at least 15 years ahead of its time.

 

Frends remained a smaller player until a game-changing decision in 2005 to build our product atop third-party technologies, boosting growth by 50%.
Frends Technology saw a whopping 50% jump in turnover, hitting 3.3 million euros. Our cutting-edge software snagged us the title of Microsoft's Solution Partner of the Year in Finland, and we even danced our way into the top three in Microsoft's global awards for Business Process and Integration Solutions.
In came the Swedes. Our international expansion took off when Swedish company HiQ acquired Frends, leveraging their expertise in global growth to scale our business. Jukka Rautio became CEO and has been leading the company ever since.
A German version of the Frends platform hit the scene and the company kept thriving, boosting its revenue from 2 million to 10 million euros by 2011.
Frends ditched MS BizTalk, reestablishing itself as a standalone iPaaS.
Triton swooped in and acquired HiQ. Frends opened an office in Poland.
By 2022, Frends had firmly planted its flag as a cutting-edge iPaaS and a powerful challenger in the industry. Frends ventured into new markets in the DACH region, and by 2023, it had entered the ASEAN market with an HQ in Singapore. Frends iPaaS clinched the title of Microsoft Partner of the Year in Finland in the Cloud SaaS Solution category in 2023.
Frends proudly serves 4,000+ customers across 16 continents with offices in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, and Singapore. In a smart move, HiQ Finland Oy split its operations, letting Frends' iPaaS and integration business fly solo, paving the way for growth in both areas.
