A record number of visitors flocked to Levi Ski Resort, Lapland, during the winter season 2021–2022. Altogether 550,000 visitors got to experience how Finland's leading ski resort has succeeded in building a digital ecosystem around a visitor-friendly app.

For the past few years, Levi Ski Resort has invested heavily in customer experience development, in which digitalization plays a significant role. Every piece of information, from snow cannons to cash registers and ticket sales systems, is connected in real-time to a visually stunning mobile app built with the expertise and technology of Frends.

"Together with Frends, we have been able to build a one-of-kind solution to develop customer experience digitally. The unified data serves both customer satisfaction and our organizational development", says Marko Mustonen, Commercial Director of Levi Ski Resort.

The stunning mobile app helps visualize Levi's slopes with an interactive 3D map. In addition, visitors get real-time information, such as location, weather conditions, slope availability, transportation schedules, restaurants, and nearby activities, straight in their pockets.

The app is a true masterpiece for collecting, processing, and combining real-time data from different sources. For instance, the slope status data will combine the information on geolocation, opening hours, length, elevation, steepness, and natural snow level.

Jukka Rautio, Director of Frends, estimates that Frends and Levi Ski Resort have created something unique in the global tourism market.

"The app combines technology, tourism, and nature – each element supports beautifully one another. Thus, we can build a distinct service culture and inspire other businesses in Scandinavia and beyond", says Rautio.

An omnichannel loyalty program

The loyalty program built with the Frends integration platform enriches Levi Ski Resort's digital ecosystem. Customers receive loyalty (Levi Black) points for purchases in the online store, equipment rentals, and selected Levi Ski Resort's shops. Then, with loyalty points, customers can redeem benefits in the app.

Moreover, the app allows receiving of targeted discounts and information. Instant messaging features combined with the app's map-centricity create endless possibilities for delighting customers. For example, the rush hour information on slopes and restaurants can direct people to less crowded areas.

Rautio believes that Levi Ski Resort has built a well-functioning loyalty program that appeals to the customers and helps the organization develop its services.

"Customers need added value when registering to an app and giving out their information. Levi Ski Resort has succeeded in this, and the opportunities to grow are endless. We are proud to be a long-term partner with such a digital forerunner that challenges us for continuous innovation", says Rautio.
