Frends for Healthcare and HL7

Integrations in healthcare area require compliant (GDPR and other regulations) integration platform. Frends is exactly that with support for HL7® (Health Level Seven) standard widely used in healthcare integrations for exchanging information between medical information systems.

HL7, FHIR and Frends

HL7 is a message format used in many health-related systems and applications. Typically these messages are passed over MLLP, HLLP, HTTP(S), queues or file-based protocols to and from the applications utilizing them. Frends has built-in support for all the transport protocols.

FHIR is a modern version that relies on RESTful services and JSON -structures. Frends's built-in JSON support enables easy conversions between HL7 and FHIR.

Frends Supported HL7 Formats

HL7 2.x format is a flatfile format, where Frends has a native parser showcased in action in the demo below. HL7 3.x is XML and FRENDS can natively parse it as XML as it would any other normal XML format.

Compliancy

Frends is available in Azure and Cleura (formerly known as CityNetwoks) cloud, which both support ISO27001 Information Security Standard, as does the Frends platform itself and ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard well.

Support for essential standards is not all, though - Frends in Cleura Cloud is a combination where the infrastructure and software are 100% EU-owned. Being owned by EU-based companies protects the iPaaS infrastructure from the Cloud Act threat that allows US federal players, like NSA, to have legal (US) access to any US-owned company's data, whether on EU soil. In 2022 there will be a new data privacy shield between US and EU in negotiations. Still, it is expected to collapse like its predecessor due to the fundamental conflicts between US Cloud ACT and EU GDPR.
