Frends bridges the time gap in Enterprise automation with the launch of Long Running Processes

Frends, the European integration platform designed for mission-critical automation and digital transformation, announces the launch of Long Running Processes (LRP), the hero feature of the Frends 6.2 release.

This release enables organizations to automate entire business lifecycles from start to finish, ensuring that critical processes, like supply chain orders or employee onboarding, never stall or get lost when they encounter multi-day delays or require human sign-off. With the introduction of LRP, Frends eliminates tool fragmentation and significantly lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO).

The new capability responds to customer demand for a unified approach to complex, multi-day business processes that span systems, require human approvals, and involve asynchronous events.

“The reality of modern business is that processes don't happen in milliseconds; they happen in business days. With LRP, we are removing the technical barriers that forced IT teams to 'hack' their way through long-term orchestrations. By unifying integration and business process automation, we're giving organizations the visibility and control they need to automate complex, real-world scenarios without the overhead of multiple siloed tools or expensive add-on licenses.”

Solving the "broken workflow" problem

For years, the IT sector has struggled with "fragmented automation." Traditional integration platforms are built for near-instantaneous data transfers. When a process requires a human approval that takes three days, for example, or an external system that responds asynchronously, the workflow typically "breaks" or must be manually split into multiple, disconnected pieces. This leads to a lack of visibility, increased human error, and “glue code" that is expensive to maintain.

The launch of Frends’ Long Running Processes eliminates this fragmentation by allowing entire business cycles; spanning hours, days, or even weeks, to be modelled and executed as one continuous, state-persisted workflow. The platform automatically persists the process state, waits for human actions or time-based triggers, and resumes exactly where it left off. This ensures the completion of every business case by seeing it through from the initial trigger to final resolution, without requiring developers to build custom state management logic.

"What makes this particularly powerful is the governance angle. With LPR, every step, every approval, every delay is logged automatically. Nobody forgets a task. Nobody loses responsibility. Human error and the lack of traceability that plagues manual handoffs simply disappear. That's transformative for compliance-heavy industries and supply chain."

The launch of LRP deliver immediate value across diverse scenarios, including employee onboarding, invoice approvals, subscription management, and supply chain fulfilment. By unifying these historically manual or fragmented tasks into a single, auditable workflow, organizations eliminate the need for fragile manual workarounds and ensure end-to-end traceability for every business case.

Frends significantly lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO) and improves operational transparency by eliminating the need for multiple specialized tools. The launch positions Frends as a complete orchestration platform capable of handling both high-speed integrations and complex, time-dependent business processes within a single environment.

Since December 2025, select pilot customers have successfully been testing the capability in production environments, validating its stability and real-world applicability.
